The Australian Stockbrokers Foundation Awards, presented last week, is the largest gathering of stockbrokers anywhere in Australia in a given year, as the profession meets to celebrate its top achievers, and also to fulfil the mission of the ASF — to give back to the community.

The Australian Stockbroking Foundation has raised more than $9 million in the quarter of a century since it put on the first Stockbroking Awards Dinner. “It’s the largest gathering of brokers in the country every year. The excuse for raising money is an awards evening,” says Australian Stockbroking Foundation chairman Danny Dreyfus. The awards and foundation came about when then Qantas chairman John Menadue was trying to raise money for the Matthew Talbot Hostel, an inner Sydney homeless men’s refuge.

The cream of the stockbroking business gathered in Sydney last week to celebrate their achievements; notable among them was Ian Edgar, described as the ‘father figure’ of CommSec Advisory, who was inducted into the Stockbrokers Foundation Hall of Fame after 46 years with the Commonwealth Bank and two decades as a mentor to young professionals. Stockbroker Night of Celebration - The cream of the Australian stockbroking community gathered in Sydney last Thursday evening to honour the achievements of its members and to raise money for the Sydney Children’s Hospital and other charities. Read Page One.

The Australian Stockbrokers Foundation will be welcoming 30 teams of brokers, their clients and financial services professionals for the Annual Bulls and Bears Golf Day at Pennant Hills Golf Club today, to raise vital funds for the Heart Foundation NSW.
